When tech savvy children unrestrictidly accessing tablets, laptops, websites, youtube videos there is every chance that innappropriate content making its way to the screen either through popups or through accidental mouse clicks. Although some sites require the people to declare their age, this is a still a manual declaration that can be cheated. If every such content can be passed through Idol and if age verification can be automated by taking the picture of the person browsing, content security can be enhanced.
A larger application of the concept is in film/movie certification. If an initial scan of the film and highlights of the inappropriate content (words, scenes) can be tagged for a manual re-verification later, the aspect of bias in the manual certification process can be reduced if not eliminated. The inappropriateness of content by country/region would drive the certification logic.
Does Idol support such a use case? I would like to try this.
